I have worked and studied in the art and design world most of my life. In the past year I have done several freelance web design and graphic design projects. These include the full design and maintenance of the website for Katherine Govier's new novel The Printmakers Daughter I also have helped Canadian author Susan Swan maintain her website. I also have become very interested in theatre and performed in several theatre productions As you like it , Comedy of Errors, and Our Countrys Good. I have also continued to produce work both digitally and in conventional mediums such as painting, photography, weaving, and ceramics.
I was the recipient of the Leonardo da Vinci award in art and design at the end of high school. I have volunteered at the Art Gallery of Ontario, where I gave guided tours to children of new exhibits on at the AGO. I was also admitted to the advanced studio program at the AGO, where I focused mainly on painting. I have continued my experience in art galleries and museums since, working at The Glenbow Museum in Calgary, and the Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre in Canmore, Alberta.
During my last year of high school and in the following summer, I interned for a small book packaging company called Otherwise Editions. There, I did photo research, scanning, and some cover design work. I also have worked for Diaspora Dialogues and The Literary Review of Canada, doing graphic design work, research, and general office management.
I have taken several courses at the International Academy of Design in Toronto, where I obtained an Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop certificate.
My work is inspired by artists such as Gauguin, Matisse, Picasso, Emily Carr, and Max Beck. I am very interested in their use of colour and abstract nature. I specialized in classical studies during high school and have traveled extensively in Europe where I have enjoyed going to galleries.
I have completed several courses in painting, printmaking, ceramics, drawing basics and web and graphic design.
